Welcome to another edition of the mid day content. Continuing on a previous entry, I felt it was time to post a list of my all time favorite off beat games. Some of these are main stream games and can be purchased, while others are true gems that are extremely hard to find, but all are worth a play, so pick up a copy. NOTE : All Amazon links are affiliate links.
- Earthbound : It’s no surprise that I LOVE this RPG. There are only a handful of games I replay for the sake of replaying and this is one of them. What other game can bring you aliens, zombies and cultists and still be rated E for Everyone? Though it didn’t do as well as it should have, there is a huge cult following for the game and who can blame them? I only hope that this game will show up on Wii Virtual Console soon so that everyone can enjoy this game without forking over some major cash. If you’re a bit adventurous, grab a copy of Mother 1 + 2 (affiliate link), a port of the original Japanese Super Famicom game for the Gameboy Advance, but be warned it is in Japanese, but even then, it’s still playable. Of course, there are other means to play it…
- Portal : Through Steam or Orange, grab a copy of Portal. It may be mainstream, but trust me, it’s by far one of the best puzzle games I’ve ever played and one of the few that is in a first person perspective. Built in the Half Life 2 engine, this game should humor all. Plus, who can complain when Jonathan Coulton wrote the ending song? Well worth a play
- Full Throttle : Another classic PC game, though you will need a copy of DosBox to run this game, but trust me, the setup is worth it. In the same vein as classic classic, Full Throttle follows the story of biker Ben, trying to find himself and his gang innocent of a murder they did not commit. It’s pretty started Lucas Arts adventure, but well worth a play if you’re fans of games like Sam and Max.
- Sam and Max Season One: And how could I mention Full Throttle without putting up here one of the best game sequels, Sam And Max Season one?!? If you’re into off beat humor and random pop culture reference, grab a copy right now!
Well folks, there you have it. There are plenty of games that should make the list, but I’m trying to keep this mid day content to a minimum of 5 or less. Hopefully this will tied you over till the next one.
