Memoirs of an English Major

I have many inspirations for my work and for the most part, I’m well aware where they come from. Today, it was pretty much a thought that has been floating around my head for quite some time. This is hack poetry at best, but at least I recorded it. So, if you want to read it, read on. Else, hit play.

How do you do it Leo?
How did you get there?
I mean, seriously. How in the hell did you go from college level Mandarin to pretty much being a content king?
I know you got luckily in the end, but luck only gets you the first 15 minutes,
so how did you get the rest of your life?

It’s mind boggling if you look at it.
I mean, somewhere in your life, you had a choice
to take a chance. The outcome probably wasn’t crystal clear
and I’m betting at times you doubted it would go anywhere,
but you still took that chance. So, how the hell did you make it from
there to here? What’s the secret? Do you even know for sure?

In the end, it’s all about timing.
It was the right time for ZD TV
It was the right time for The Screen Savers and Call for Help
It was the right time when you took your first radio job
It was the right time to set up shop in Petaluma
and It’s the right time to do your own stuff.
You’ve earned it.

My ultimate question is how did you get there?
What even made you take the risk?
In the end, it could have ended terribly. You may have ended up flat broke, out of job, and pretty much wished you did something else with your life. Hell, I have a degree and even I’m not sure these days.
Whatever muse sparked your creative flame must have lit one hell of a spark

In the end, I’m at a similar point in my life and
this is as much a question to you as it is a question to me.
I’m glad you took that risky step and it paid off.
Now I think it’s my turn.
