Welcome Sharp Words readers

“There’s only four things we do better than anyone else: music, movies, microcode,high-speed pizza delivery” - Snow Crash

Welcome Sharp Words readers! For those of you who are first time readers of the blog, welcome to my little corner of the web and what a strange corner it is. I’m one the few who doesn’t believe in a specific niche and write in an effort to not only keep my skill sharp, but also to see where ever it may take me. It is a slightly romantic notion, but it is where my muse comes from for time to time. Feel free to browse the blog, though if you want a couple of good articles or fiction to write, here are some suggestions.

  • Cyberpunk Fiction : A rough, rough draft of some fiction in the works
  • How I became an English Major : “And you may ask yourself-well…how did I get here?” - Talking Heads
  • Will Write for Food : Not a post, but a great writer friend of mine. If you want some interesting reads, feel free to go here. Don’t forget to comment
  • Writing : It’s the largest re-occurring tag on the site, so I suggest you have a look.

For first time readers, I feel that is a good start and even for readers who are familiar with the content, but haven’t dug into the archives yet, this is a great place to start. Thanks for coming and hope that you come back.

I’ve always been a huge fan of cyberpunk and figured it was about time I began working on a cyberpunk story. I’m quite sure where it’s going to exactly go, but I do know I want to make it very dark, noir, gritty, and tech. It’s heavily inspired by Bladerunner, Snow Crash, and Gene Hunt. It’s a strange combination, but that’s where I’m getting my inspiration. I will soon return to my other stories, but for now, here’s what I have so far. It’s extremely rough and very short, but I am planning of working on it all week. Anyway, here it is.

“We are all susceptible to the pull of viral ideas. Like mass hysteria. Or a tune that gets into your head that you keep on humming all day until you spread it to someone else. Jokes. Urban legends. Crackpot religions. Marxism. No matter how smart we get, there is always this deep irrational part that makes us potential hosts for self-replicating information.” - Neal Stephenson

Great book, Snow Crash. You all should read it. Anyways, on with the post
